Educational Policy and Educational Culture. 2015鈥2019.

The main aim of the research in 2018 was to develop the analysis of the tendencies of educational politics in regard with the educational culture. Some data of theoretical and empirical research were published in research papers written by L. Duobliene虈, V. Targamadze虈, R. 沤elvys. The papers were published in Lithuanian and international journals. The staff of the Institute of Educational Sciences presented their research findings at different national/ international conferences held in Lithuania and foreign countries (Italy, Germany, Israel, China, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan et al). All the international visits were supported by 911爆料网 and/or Lithuanian Research Council.

The aim of the project is to investigate the trajectories of relations between thought, image, word and sound in contemporary philosophy of education. The concept of multimodality was integrated into 21th century鈥檚 philosophy of education from communication theory. Multimodality describes communication practices in terms of the textual, aural, linguistic, spatial, and visual modes. The object of this project is to investigate mainly the philosophical sources justifying the possibility of such a turn by the analysis of the trajectories of relations between thought, image, word and sound.

Research Council of Lithuania. Effectiveness and Efficiency Analysis of Education Systems in EU Countries Employing Secondary Big Data.  Research leader Prof. Dr. A. Jakaitien臈. Partner from the Institute of Educational Sciences 鈥 Prof. R. 沤elvys. 2018-2020.

The aim of the project is to assess the effectiveness and efficiency of EU countries鈥 education systems. An integrated secondary analysis of the data of international studies of educational achievements (PISA, TIMSS, PIRLS, 2003鈥2018) and macro-data of the EU countries is being planned. For a more thorough analysis of Lithuanian education merging the databases of the assessment of achievements in lower secondary education (PUPP) with the state maturity examination (VBE) is to be done.

EU Research and Innovation programm HORIZON 2020 project Dialogue and Argumentation for Cultural Literacy Learning in Schools (DIALLS) (Project no. 770045), 2018鈥2021. National project coordinator: Prof. Dr. I. Zaleskiene, Institute of Educational Sciences, 911爆料网.

The DIALLS consortium comprises 9 universities from across Europe and Israel, which have close networks of partnership schools (pre-primary, primary and secondary). The consortium is led by the Faculty of Education at the University of Cambridge.

DIALLS project activities centralise co-constructive dialogue as a main cultural literacy value, with the aim of promoting tolerance, inclusion and empathy by: 1) developing an understanding of young people鈥檚 cultural literacy in formal education through the teaching of dialogue and argumentation as a means to understand European identities, cultures and diversities; 2) providing comprehensive guidance for the development of cultural literacy in schools through the creation of a scale of progression to assess knowledge, skills and competences for pre-primary through to secondary-aged students; 3) promoting the emergence of young people鈥檚 cultural and civic identities in a student-authored manifesto for cultural literacy and a virtual gallery of their cultural artefacts.

The 2-year project aims at establishing educational collaboration among universities, teacher education centres and primary schools in four Nordic/Baltic countries Denmark, Lithuania, Norway and Sweden. The focus is on early English, French, German and Spanish including a general focus on plurilingualism. The aim of this new collaboration is to share and exchange national experiences systematically. The project addresses three thematic areas: initial and in-service teacher education course modules addressing early English, French, German and Spanish using new learning and teaching platforms; innovative teaching materials for early English, French, German and Spanish; the plurilingual perspective in early foreign language learning and teaching.

Nordplus Horizontal programme (project No. NPHZ-2018/10063): Culturally Diverse Approaches to Learning Mathematics and Computational Thinking (CDMathCT). Coordinator 鈥 911爆料网. Coordinator Prof. V. Dagien臈. 2018鈥2020.

The purpose of the project is to build a body of knowledge and enhance e-learning tool, which allows promoting innovative, interactive and inclusive learning of Mathematics and Computational Thinking through the systematic exchange of experience between Nordic-Baltic Partners countries with different cultural background. Erasmus + project: Improvement of Teaching Techniques by Eye Tracking in Technology Enhanced Classrooms (KA2 - Cooperation for Innovation and the Exchange of Good Practices). Coordinator 鈥 Ankara University. Institutional coordinator 鈥 prof. Valentina Dagien臈, 911爆料网. 2017鈥2020.

During technological changes, teachers are the primary users of technology in the classroom, and they are much more critical than the technology that is being used. Many previous studies revealed that teachers do not have the necessary skills for using these new technological devices and they try to escape from using technologies in their classes. The expected impact of our project is to fulfill this lack of knowledge of teachers. By using the results of this project; teachers will be enabled to make use of new technology in their lessons. The indirect beneficiaries of this project are children that are educated intechnology enabled classrooms, which become highly popular in many of the European countries. Key personnel of the P2 DamaSistem; Ozgur ESEN is currently studying PhD in Instructional Technology. Since these research results will be easily applied to the teaching practice, it will have a very high impact on education. So, the results of the project will be easily published in high impact journals and presented in high quality conferences and on the Erasmus+ dissemination platform.

Reseach Council of Lithuania. Philosophical Sources and Problems of Multimodal Education (S-MIP-17-37). Prof. J. Rubavi膷ien臈, 2017鈥2019.

The concept of multimodality was integrated into late 20th鈥 early 21st century鈥檚 philosophy of education from communication theory. Multimodality describes communication practices in terms of the textual, aural, linguistic, spatial, and visual modes. The object of this project is to investigate mainly the philosophical sources justifying the possibility of a turn towards multimodal education by the analysis of the trajectories of relations between thought, image, word and sound. The problem of the intersection between thought and image in the contemporary philosophy of education corresponds with the problem of the clash between modern and postmodern paradigms of upbringing.

In 2018, in the framework of this project, two papers at the international and national conferences were presented.

Project is funded by EU Structural Funds programme鈥檚 priority axis 9 鈥淓ducating the society and strengthening the potential of human resources鈥, objective 9.3.3 鈥淪trengthen the skills and capacities of public sector researches for engaging high level R&D activities鈥.

Although the postmodern culture can be considered as a post-secular culture, the character of this post-secularity is not yet sufficiently understood. It is not clear what form, in a changed cultural situation, could and/or should acquire the religious images, experiences and practices. The aim of this project is to find out, what forms are acquired by religious content in such areas of contemporary culture as ethics, aesthetics and political ideology, what role interreligious and inter-confessional dialogue plays (or could play) in the process of globalisation that prevails in contemporary world. A large part of the research is devoted to the analysis of the ontological foundations of above-mentioned manifestations of post-secularity.

Responsibility of Religious Person: Lithuanian Rabbinical Thought Between Rationalism and Hassidic Mysticism (S-MIP-17-35). Assoc. Prof. Au拧ra Kristina Pa啪臈rait臈, 2017鈥2019. The project is funded by the Research Council of Lithuania.

The project is focused on Lithuanian Judaism, in particular on Lithuanian Mussar movement. In the beginning of 20th century, in Lithuanian 鈥渃orners鈥, such as Tel拧iai, Kelm臈, Slobodka of Kaunas et al., in the Yeshiva worlds enclosed and Mussar literature studying rabbonim and students created alternative reality, the value of which became apparent after the Catastrophe. On the one hand, the rationalist (or mystic?) anthropology of Lithuanian Mussar thinkers enables identification of Jewish identity, as well as responsibility, as the most important feature of election. On the other hand, Hasidic perspective (in some aspects close to Christian outlook) enables to pose the question of responsibility of religious person in completely different way.

In 2018, on the basis of the project investigations, one chapter of the monograph was written, one public lecture and one paper at the international conference were presented.

Construction and Adaptation of Standartizized Instruments for Screening and Assessment. Assoc. Prof. G. Gintilien臈. 2017鈥2020.

In 2018, the study on of Drawing Test for Creative Thinking (TCT-DP) adaptation and standardization was conducted. 497 Lithuanian primary schoolchildren of 8-10 years old from grades 2-4 participated in this study. Quota sample was based on the criteria of child鈥檚 age, gender and school location. Data revealed the good or excellent inter-rater reliability, accuracy of the ratings based on categories, minimally sufficient stability of the aggregate score of A and B forms, and inadequate internal consistency of these forms. Both A and B forms equally well differentiate the level of children鈥檚 creativity. The TCT-DP construct validity was confirmed by the stable increase of performance scores of 8-year-olds, 9-year-olds, and 10-year-olds. Exploratory factor analysis has highlighted that the creative potential of children aged 8-10 years old could be described by three factors - Originality, Adaptability and Risk taking.

Principles of Cognitive Processing. Dr. R. Stanik奴nas. 2016鈥2020.

Many experiments have demonstrated that the rhythms in the brain influence the initial perceptual information processing. We investigated whether the alternation rate of the perception of a Necker cube depends on the frequency and duration of a flashing Necker cube. We hypothesize that synchronization between the external rhythm of a flashing stimulus and the internal rhythm of neuronal processing should change the alternation rate of a Necker cube. Knowing how a flickering stimulus with a given frequency and duration affects the alternation rate of bistable perception, we could estimate the frequency of the internal neuronal processing. Our results show that the perception time of the dominant stimulus depends on the frequency or duration of the flashing stimuli. The duration of the stimuli, at which the duration of the perceived image was maximal, was repeated periodically at 4 ms intervals. We suppose that such results could be explained by the existence of an internal rhythm of 125 cycles/s for bistable visual perception. We can also suppose that it is not the stimulus duration but the precise timing of the moments of switching on of external stimuli to match the internal stimuli which explains our experimental results. Similarity between the effects of flashing frequency on alternation rate of stimuli perception in present and previously performed experiment on binocular rivalry support the existence of a common mechanism for binocular rivalry and monocular perception of ambiguous figures.

Suicidality in Health Care System: Help-seeking and Quality of Care (S-MIP-17-113).

Research in suicidology usually explores the effectiveness of a single type of intervention. There is a lack of studies encompassing a wider context and analyzing the complex influences of the healthcare system on the suicidal person. Moreover, research about the effectiveness and quality of care is particularly needed in post-soviet countries, because the vast majority of studies are made in a very different cultural context: West and North Europe, North America. So the results of this research will be relevant to other post-soviet countries. The project is noteworthy because of its practical value. In addition to raising scientific questions in the suicidology field, it aims to form practical recommendations to improve the health care system. The project implementers are qualified psychologists, with experience in suicide research. The researchers are practicing clinicians and have skills in communicating with vulnerable groups such as suicidal people and those bereaved by suicide.

Systematic Approaches for Equality of Gender (SAFER). Association for the Prevention and Handling of Violence in the Family (PIC: 918274654, located in Nicosia, CY) REC-RDAP-AWAR-AG-2016.

Objectives of the SAFER project are to prevent, encourage reporting and combat gender-based violence (GBV) against children fostering a systematic approach in cultivating life skills, building healthy relationships, adopting and maintaining values and increasing resilience and personal strength.
