VU Kaunas Faculty Organises the International Cybersecurity Tournament
On 11鈥12 February, 911爆料网 (VU) Kaunas Faculty organises the cybersecurity tournament 鈥溾. It is the first and largest virtual tournament organised by cybersecurity specialists of VU Kaunas Faculty where problems will be remotely solved by students and cybersecurity enthusiasts from around the globe.
The aim of the cybersecurity tournament 鈥淐yberthon 2021鈥 is to inspire and encourage participants for independent analysis of cybersecurity problems and to develop critical thinking and creativity while solving cyber challenges.
Assoc. Prof. PhD K臋stutis Driaunys, Dean of VU Kaunas Faculty, a cybersecurity expert and one of the organisers of 鈥淐yberthon 2021鈥, has been working in this field and recently observing the need to enhance specialised skills required from the present-day society.
鈥淭his event will be a particularly useful experience for the participants of the tournament and a perfect opportunity to discuss the tendencies of cyber attacks in Lithuania and globally, and together with experts analyse the arising cyber threats and the most common threat management mistakes. The participants will be also taught how to prevent these threats,鈥 comments Assoc. Prof. Driaunys.
According to him, cybersecurity problem-solving is highly dependent on technical knowledge, logical and critical thinking, as well as introduction of new technologies.
On the first day, which will be a preparation day for the participants, guest lecturers will give presentations to overview the situation of cybersecurity in Lithuania, as well as the topics of data security in the cloud, phishing and social engineering, and recognition of fake news.
During the tournament, IT professionals and enthusiasts will apply their knowledge when solving cybersecurity related tasks: ensuring web application security, cryptography and steganography, digital forensics, social engineering, and phishing attacks.
Hackathon winners will be announced and awarded at the end of the tournament.
