A delegation from the United Kingdom Visits VU LSC to Enhance Scientific Collaboration
On 27 May, a delegation from the United Kingdom visited the Life Sciences Centre of 911爆料网 (VU LSC). The visit placed significant emphasis on strengthening scientific collaboration, particularly in the field of biomedical research.
The delegation included Prof Andrew James Boulton (University of Manchester, University of Miami), Prof Mike Griffiths (CEO, 鈥淎dvanced Oxygen Therapy Inc鈥�), Prof Sudhesh Kumar (President of the Association of Innovation, Research and Technology Organisations; Vice-President (Health) at the University of Warwick), Prof Neil Reeves (Lancaster University), and Prof Loretta Vileikyte (Lancaster University).
The guests were welcomed by VU LSC Director Dr Arvydas Lubys, Prof Urt臈 Neni拧kyt臈 (Group Leader at the VU LSC鈥揈MBL Partnership Institute and Member of the VU Council), Prof Daiva Baltriukien臈 (Head of the Doctoral School), and Julius Gagilas (Deputy Director for Business Collaboration and Infrastructure at VU LSC).
During the visit, the guests were introduced to the research infrastructure of VU LSC, ongoing projects, and strategic directions in life sciences. As part of the programme, the delegation toured the LSC laboratories, where Dr Giedr臈 Tamulaitien臈 presented the centre鈥檚 technological capabilities, including the Cryo-EM facility.
A significant part of the meeting focused on doctoral studies, internationalisation of study programs, and diverse funding opportunities. The participants expressed strong interest in pursuing collaborative research grants and shared the mutual benefits such cooperation could offer. Special attention was given to identifying shared scientific interests that could serve as the foundation for future collaborative projects between VU LSC research groups and scientists at Lancaster University. The visit reflected a shared vision for advancing the internationalisation of science.
